Disaster Preparedness for Pets and Large Animals Presented by Sara Penhallegon Saturday September 10th, 5pm - 6pm <https://mcusercontent.com/82d26e535706daece34fbf7a3/_compresseds/08378820-05fc-eebf-166d-701c9e9693a0.jpg> Sara Penhallegon, Director of Center Valley Animal Rescue, will be talking about Disaster Preparedness for Domestic Animals in our barn from 5pm to 6pm. Specifically, she will go over common/most likely disasters and how to plan for them with pets including large animals, small animals, dogs, cats, and some exotics. There will be time for questions and answers afterward. Light refreshments will be provided. Fish see the doctor too! Aquatic medicine from fish tanks to aquariums to Puget Sound Presented by Dr. Christine Parker-Graham Saturday September 24th, 5pm - 6pm <https://mcusercontent.com/82d26e535706daece34fbf7a3/images/effd29f8-4617-becb-c1e4-7b0c92e7343d.jpg> Have you ever wondered what to do when your goldfish is feeling under the weather? How about a 200-pound sand tiger shark? Or 1.2 million Chinook salmon? Call the vet! Aquatic medicine is part animal care, part chemistry, and part engineering but in the end treating the betta on your bookshelf isn't vastly different from treating a school of sharks at the zoo! Light refreshments will be provided. Wildife Conflict Management Presented by Nickoli Kallman Saturday October 15th, 5pm - 6pm <https://mcusercontent.com/82d26e535706daece34fbf7a3/images/86d4c83f-2acc-9930-367e-1ae57893a210.jpg> A young cougar who was rehabilitated at Center Valley Animal Rescue Nickoli Kallman, Wilidlife Conflict Technician for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, will be talking about Wildlife Conflict Management with large predators such as cougars and bears. In 2020, an emaciated cougar checked herself in to Center Valley Animal Rescue's wildlife rehabilitation center to die after her mother was shot and killed illegally. In this instance, the young cougar was able to be successfully rehabilitated. Nickoli Kallman will talk about appropriate and humane channels to manage conflicts between humans and large predators in Washington State. Light refreshments will be provided.
