SUBJECT: Courthouse Security
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Staff has been evaluating alternatives for maintaining Courthouse security following the expiration of the current
contract with PPC Solutions in December 2022. This workshop will discuss the alternatives evaluated,their relative
pros and cons and result in a recommendation to the Board.
Events leading up to this workshop:
• Staff request to issue a Courthouse security Request for Proposals. The request was denied. The Board
requested a workshop on the subject.
• Board of County Commissioners Courthouse Security workshop on June 6, 2022
• Additional work by staff was completed which included several meetings with Sheriff Office staff and elected
officials and department directors residing in the courthouse.
ANALYSIS:
The attached PowerPoint presentation summarizes the work done by staff on Courthouse security.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The request has no fiscal impact, however, should the Board approve staffs recommendation during the workshop
there could be an increase in the cost of security to the General Fund of between$25,000-$40,000.
