OLD BUSINESS
Manager's Report
Matt Tyler gave a brief update on the operations at the Parks and Recreation Department. With
the transition to his new position as Manager, in addition to old duties, Matt indicated that a
more in-depth report will be available at the next regular meeting. He did mention that the
basketball league is successful and time-consuming. Staff Phil Saxton and Molly Hilt
commented on the facility at lower Oak Bay being closed due to major erosion of the spit. It is
hoped to be able to move on the Quilcene Community project by the end of the month.
NEW BUSINESS
Status Report: Frisbee Golf
Luke Cherney, representing Olympic Disc Golf Club, a 2005 Community Park Grant awardee,
addressed the Board regarding current location considerations. Due to high use, H.J. Carroll
Park may no longer be thought compatible; however, Gibbs Lake and the Rumage Property were
discussed. The club will continue to work with staff in an attempt to identify appropriate
locations.
Recreation Report
Basketball, as previously noted, is very successful, with close to 300 players, representing
Brinnon, Quilcene, the Tri-Area and Jefferson County, and Port Townsend. The Recreation
Department, together with 4-H, will present a forum on youth summer planning at the P.T.
Community Center, Thursday, January 12, 2006 at 5:00 p.m.

A fence is damaged at Memorial Field. The Rumage portion of the Larry Scott Trail is now
open.
