Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. ________________________________ Dear Commissioner Eisenhour, One final reminder of our interactive webinar for local government officials this Wednesday, Sept. 21st, noon-1pm, to share information on upcoming opportunities at the state and local levels to reduce pollution in and from buildings, and to preview Climate Solutions’ 2023 legislative priorities and our recommendations for Jefferson County’s legislative agenda: RSVP here <https://climatesolutions.salsalabs.org/lgosept21> to join us. If you haven’t already, please consider signing our letter from local elected officials to the State Building Code Council <https://climatesolutions.salsalabs.org/leosbccresidential/index.html> in support of the propo sed updates <https://drive.google.com/file/d/1p9Uwg392nVQGZcUYx6ubg089JXVNy4yH/view?usp=sharing> to the state energy code for new residential construction. Already, seven out of eight new homes built today in Washington <https://neea.org/img/documents/Washington-Residential-Post-Code-Adoption-Market-Research.pdf> rely on our increasingly clean electricity grid for space and water heating. These proposed updates will move that close to 100% by requiring heat pumps for space and water heating in all new residential construction, further increase energy efficiency requirements to get us closer to the state requirement for a 70% reduction in energy use by 2031, and improve indoor air quality by increasing the ventilation requirements for gas stoves, resulting in homes that are better for our environment, safer and healthier for people, and more affordable both to build and to live in. As always, please let me know if you have any questions, or if you’d like to unsubscribe <mailto:brian.emanuels@climatesolutions.org?subject=Please%20remove%20me%20from%20your%20local%20elected%20off icials%20distribution%20list> from communications like this from us going forward.
