I have been diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma in the 4th stage and am proceeding with a course of chemotherapy. Box 2070 623 Sheridan St Port Townsend, WA 98368 Desk: 360.385.9129 Entail: mtPIerQcountyrec.coni A substantial part of the mission of Jefferson County Parks and Recreation (Parks and Rec) is to increase the safety of the local communities we serve. Parks and Rec wants to better serve this purpose by partnering more closely with the public safety team. Parks and Rec has worked to improve the design, supervision, and rules in our parks to make them less likely locations for unsafe and illegal activity. Parks and Rec has also educated and empowered park neighbor groups through service projects and organization. The citizen group advisory group that supports Parks and Rec is interested in learning more about the option of Drug Free Zones in and around Parks and Rec facilities. Preliminary research indicates that Drug Free Zones are feasible, but it is not known if they would be helpful in this case. As manager of Parks and Rec, I would like to attend a law and justice committee meeting to gather information about Drug Free Zones. More importantly, I need general feedback about enhancing our performance within the community policing model. Discussion topics could include current issues of concern; park rules; park ordinance; communication with law enforcement; options for education and enforcement projects that are jointly funded; or public relations. Please feel free to contact me via phone or email at anytime. I would be happy to visit in person with any of the Committee members. I hope to visit with the Committee in August. My name is Jane Storm and I would like to be considered for the District 1 position on the Jefferson County Parks Board. I have lived in Port Townsend all of my life and have had the opportunity to use all of your parks. I believe that it is time to give something back to the community. I have been a board member of the Port Townsend Marathon Assoc. for the past eight years and will continue to be on that board. My husband was a volunteer fireman and chief for the past thirty one years and I also helped out at different functions for the department. I have also owned and operated my own silkscreen embroidery business for the past fourteen years. If you decide to choose me for the position I would like you to know that I am very dedicated. In eight years I have only missed three Rhody Run Marathon meetings. I work hard at my position and fill in where needed. I am looking for a new challenge. A copy was sent to Matt Tyler at Jefferson County Public Works Department. The By -Laws state that the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Chairman can grant a 90 day leave of absence to any member. At the September 5, 2007 Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting in Quilcene, your request was approved and was noted in the meeting minutes. The 90 day period ends December 4, 2007.
