Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. ________________________________ In March of 2020 I traveled to the Olympic peninsula to look for land where I could put a modest modular home and return to my roots in the Pacific Northwest after retiring. Every parcel I looked at was sold before I could even make an offer. My cousin had just bought a lovely modular home in the Lower Lazy C in Brinnon WA on two legal lots. The lots had been platted before 1971. They allowed me to buy the extra lot at a reasonable price. I have since paid for perc tests to be done and paid to start the pre-permitting process. I am paying the taxes and HOA dues and maintaining the property. The premise of the moratorium was ..."With the recent uptick in the real estate market, the Department of Community Development (“DCD”) received three applications to develop pre-1971 plats en masse and at urban-level densities. These applications would result in increased housing densities in the rural county, contrary to the areas designated under the Growth Management Act." While the proposed revision to the size of the lots of record would prohibit developing plats "En Masse" It would have the unintended (I think) effect on established individual lots such as mine. My lot would not contribute to "Urban Sprawl" since the Lazy C has been a developed for over 50 years and was approved as legal lots by Jefferson County at that time. I have lived in Boston and the New York area that have instituted "Snob zoning" of a minimum of one acre per residence. I don't think that is the culture of the PNW. I propose that revisions to Legal Lot of Record be geared to development of plats en masse at urban level densities not a blanket sweep of ALL 1971 lots. I am low income and mature (elderly) and want to spend my last days with my family close by. My funds are limited. I am living in Texas because that was where my late husband was from. I want to live by the river in nature not in a retirement home or a 55+ mobile home park. I am a Northwesterner, not a Texan. I am not afraid of Bears, Cougars, or Sasquatch...However I am afraid of alligators to roam my Texas neighborhood. Sincerely Paula R.
