Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. ________________________________ Dear Heidi: We are contacting you given your role as Commissioner in Jefferson County, Washington. As you likely know, Jefferson County passed an earmarked tax for behavioral health services in 2006 which increases the sales tax rate by 0.1% for behavioral health services. With funding from the National Institute of Mental Health (grant #R21MH125261), we are conducting a survey of local officials’ experiences implementing earmarked taxes for behavioral health (i.e., mental health/substance use) services, decision-making processes related to tax-funded programs and services, and perceptions of the acceptability and feasibility of different types of implementation strategies. In short, we want to understand how implementation of earmarked taxes for behavioral have been going so that we can support strategies to improve tax implementation, evaluation, and design. The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. We have contacted multiple public and community organization officials in your jurisdiction, and across the U.S., and are hoping to receive multiple responses to capture diverse perspectives. The responses you provide will be analyzed in a de-identified dataset and we will not disclose your name or title when reporting results. We will provide you with a brief report summarizing our findings at the end of the study. As a thank you for completing the survey, we can provide you with a $20 gift card via e-mail after completion. This research is being conducted by New York University.
