SUBJECT: Request to reappoint Jill Silver to serve a sixth 2-year term on the North
Pacific Coast Marine Resources Committee representing
Conservation/Environmental Groups,through August 8th,2024.
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Public Health requests that the County Commissioners reappoint Jill Silver to serve a 6th 2-year term on
the North Pacific Coast Marine Resources Committee representing the Conservation/Environmental
Groups through August 8th, 2024.
ANALYSIS/STRATEGIC GOALS/PRO'S and CON'S:
A vacancy on the North Pacific Coast Marine Resources Committee(NPC MRC)was advertised in The
Leader on July 13th, 2022. Ms. Silver responded to the ad prior to the September 2nd, 2022 deadline and
she is the only candidate. Ms. Silver has served since May 2010 with tremendous dedication and
consistency, and her reappointment would help maintain continuity and a high level of relevant expertise
within the program. Mr. Silver's background is in ecology and watershed restoration, and she is executive
director of the 10,000 Years Institute.
FISCAL IMPACT/COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
There is no fiscal impact to the county's General Fund for reappointing Ms. Silver to a 6th year term on the
NPC MRC.
RECOMMENDATION:
Public Health requests that the County Commissioners reappoint Jill Silver to serve a 6th 2-year term on
the North Pacific Coast Marine Resources Committee representing the Conservation/Environmental
Groups through August 8th, 2024.
