As a result of the Presidentially declared disaster for the Washington Flooding and Mudslides natural disaster events with an incident start date of November 13, 2021, and an incident end date of November 15, 2021. Under the FEMA Major Disaster Declaration designated for Individual Assistance due to the impact of the disaster with grant limits increased from $10,000 to $36,520 in Clallam, Island, Jefferson, Lewis, San Juan, Skagit and Whatcom Counties and Hoh, Lummi, Nooksack, Quileute and Swinomish Indian Reservations. “This is good news for rural residents who were significantly impacted by the storms of last November,” said Price Johnson. “USDA Rural Development is committed to helping rural residents with the funds needed to help rebuild their lives in the wake of a devastating disaster.” Funding is available through Rural Development’s Single Family Housing Home Repair Loan and Grant (Home Repair) program that helps income-eligible homeowners in rural communities make health and safety repairs to their homes. Increased grant limits are only available until June 16, 2023, then grant limits will return to $10,000. To access the full increased amount, homeowners must apply by this date. In addition, one percent loans up to $40,000 are also available to assist with repairs and other home improvements. Applicants for the Home Repair program must: * Own and occupy their home located in a rural area.
