Fossil fuels used in our homes and buildings are the fastest-growing source of climate pollution in Washington.
Now, our state has a unique opportunity to set an example with the most climate-friendly building codes in the country and help move Washingtonians off of unhealthy, polluting gas.

Thanks to 5,000 Washingtonians taking action with the SBCC, Washington made history by adopting the first statewide regulation to build new commercial and large multifamily apartment
buildings with high efficiency heat pumps and heat pump water heaters. We have an opportunity to keep up this momentum and pass building codes for new homes with high efficiency heat
