There was no general public comment. 5. Planning Commission Updates 6. DCD Staff and Director Updates (5 minutes) CONSENT AGENDA 7. General Information Item to Read and Receive REGULAR BUSINESS a. Public Hearing: MLA21-00019 Miles Sand & Gravel Proposal for Mineral Resource Land Overlay at Wahl Extraction Area Joel Peterson, Associate Planner, made a presentation about the proposal and the public process to date. Ryan Ransavage, Geologist, project proponent representative, made a presentation regarding the proposal. Please be aware that the public comment period is three minutes. 2 The hearing began approximately at 6:30 pm. Marla Powers of Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe commented that success of reclaimed area is important, and there are two fish passage barriers in the area on Thorndyke Creek. Sissi Bruch of Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe commented about water quality for fish in Thorndyke Creek and reclamation concerns. The hearing closed approximately at 7:00 pm. A concise summary of public comments is forthcoming from Community Development b. Bylaws: Cynthia Koan presented suggested amendments to the Planning Commission Bylaws. Because the Planning Commission is a recommending body, and will not be in a quasi-judicial role, it was recommended that all of the Appearance of Fairness text be removed from the bylaws. Matt Sirceley recommended some text regarding fairness be left in. The Bylaws will be deliberated and voted upon in the October 5 , 2022 meeting. 7:15 PM Adjourned ADJOURNMENT The next Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for October 21, 2022, at 5:30.
