Agenda Item #9: Planning Commission Retreat Summary. Discussion regarding Planning
Commission Meeting Frequency, Content, and Work Plan
1. The September 17, 2022 Planning Commission Retreat will be discussed generally,
showing results of Planning Commissioner’s input and work plan ranking.
2. A discussion will be facilitated regarding the current me eting schedule of two meetings
per month.
a. are two meetings too frequent to complete the necessary Planning Commission
work? Is this frequent enough to complete the necessary work?
b. Should DCD make the first meeting of the month be the standing project meeting
that is always held and the second meeting of the month be ad hoc, and
cancelled if not needed?
c. If a meeting needs to be cancelled because of circumstances in a project, should
that meeting be replaced with an agenda for sub-committee work? Can the PC
administer sub-committee meetings that follow an agreed-upon scope of work,
and include agendas, minutes, and regular report-out?
d. Staff time to coordinate with the Planning Commission will be reduced until a
person is hired to assist with Planning Commission business. What are the PC’s
expectations and capacity to do more self-administration and self-monitor
accountability of members?
