To Whom it May Concern:
We are aware of the grant for the Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities, and the intent of
this letter is to provide support to Spencer Forest Products for their funding request to produce
biochar, perform soil testing, provide gardening and farming education, and track the advantages
of using biochar in growing, and support looking for new opportunities to use timber waste in the
regenerative economy of biochar. It stores carbon and builds resilience.
We believe the build out of the sawmill will assist in the economic development of our county.
Not only in the roughly one hundred and fifty people that will be employed at the sawmill, but
through the employment of people through the creation and use of biochar. This is exactly the 1
kind of innovation that can help push the forest practices industry into the climate adaptive
resiliency that our future depends on.
Please feel free to reach out with questions.
Sincerely, I
Jefferson County Commissioners /►"%jI',
