HomeMy WebLinkAboutMOU Community Engagement Service UW 615 Sheridan Street Port Townsend, WA 98368 Airehsort www.JeffersonCountyPublicHealth.org Consent Agenda Public Healt JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST TO: Board of County Commissioners Mark McCauley, County Administrator FROM: Apple Martine, Public Health Director Lindsay Scalf, Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative Coordinator DATE: October 10, 2022 SUBJECT: Agenda item — MOU between Jefferson County Public Health and the University of Washington's Master of Public Health in Community Oriented Public Health Practice program for a Community Engagement Project; November 1, 2022- December 16, 2022; No monetary exchange STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH), Community Health Division, requests Board approval of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Jefferson County and the University of Washington (UW) for community engagement service to Master of Public Health (MPH) students enrolled in the Community Oriented Public Health Practice program HSERV 531 Community Development course during Fall of 2022. ANALYSIS/STRATEGIC GOALS/PRO'S and CON'S: Students of UW will be supervised by JCPH health educators, part of the Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative, as students undertake a project involving research and fieldwork, which exposes them to public health practice in rural settings. This cooperative relationship between service institution and educational intuition is mutually beneficial. FISCAL IMPACT/COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS: There is no fiscal impact. RECOMMENDATION: JCPH management requests approval of MOU between Jefferson County and the University of Washington for community engagement services to MPH students enrolled in HSERV 531 Community Development course during Fall of 2022.
