Day: October 15th Time: 10am-1pm Location: The Salmon Center/ 600 NE Roessel RD. Belfair HCSEG is partnering with Mason Conservation District (MCD) for the Fifth Annual Orca Recovery Day! Volunteers will help us remove invasive weeds, plant live stakes and apply mulch to native plants on the Union River Estuary. If you've been helping with the Adult Summer Chum trap over the last couple months, then you already know that the Union River and its estuary are home to several species of salmon - and salmon are an essential food source for orcas. For this Orca Recovery Day we are focusing our efforts on ensuring that our local salmon habitat on the Union River Estuary is healthy and thriving for fish - and in turn, for orcas!
