HomeMy WebLinkAboutMarine Advanced Technology an Education 615 Sheridan Street Port Townsend, WA 98368 9ellason www.JeffersonCountyPublicHealth.org Public Healt Consent Agenda JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST TO: Board of County Commissioners Mark McCauley, County Administrator FROM: Pinky Mingo, Environmental Public Health and Water Quality Director Tami Pokorny, Natural Resources Program Coordinator DATE: October 17 2022 SUBJECT: Agenda Item -Agreement with the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation to support Washington CoastSavers and Student Marine Advanced Technology and Education (MATE) ROV Competition, a project of the North Pacific Coast Marine Resources Committee (NPC MRC); May 1, 2022 -June 15, 2023; $6,690 STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Jefferson County Public Health requests approval of an Agreement with the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation to support Washington CoastSavers and Student MATE ROV Competition, a project of the North Pacific Coast Marine Resources Committee (NPC MRC); May 1, 2022 -June 15, 2023; $6,690 ANALYSIS/STRATEGIC GOALS/PRO'S and CON'S: This Agreement uses grant funds to the NPC MRC from the Department of Fish and Wildlife (EH-21-052/#21-18965) to support the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation's in-person Marine Advanced Technology and Education (MATE) Olympic Coast Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Competition and to update and expand its Washington Coastsavers website (httos://www.coastsavers.org). The goal of the Coastal MRC program is to understand, steward, and restore the marine and estuarine ecological processes of the Washington Coast in support of ecosystem health, sustainable marine resource-based livelihoods, cultural integrity, and coastal communities. This project was submitted to the NPC MRC in response to a Request for Proposals in late 2021 and recommended for funding at its regular meeting last December. FISCAL IMPACT/COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS: Funding for this agreement is provided by the State General Fund and administered through the WDFW Coastal MRC Program. There is no impact to the Jefferson County General Fund for this agreement and there are no match requirements.
