Jefferson County
Board of Commissioners
Agenda Request
To: Board of Commissioners Mark McCauley, County Administrator"1 /
From: Monte Reinders, Public Works Director/County EngineeāJ1
Agenda Date: October 17, 2022
Subject: Workshop on Staffing Issues and Recommendation
Statement of Issue:
Current and near-term staffing levels for the Solid Division create a challenge to
maintaining the current hours of operation at the transfer station.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's Et Con's:
Staff has identified revisions to the operational hours for self-haul customers as the
preferred means to provide uninterrupted service with the current and near-term
staff available. Staff will provide analysis and recommendation in a workshop format
with the Board of County Commissioners.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis:
Revisions to operational hours would lower over-time costs.
Recommendation:
Continue with six days per week operations at the current 9 am to 4:30 pm schedule
but allow only the City contract hauler and Washington Utilities and Transportation
Commission garbage certificated hauler access to the transfer station on Mondays.
