Questions for Dr Allison Berry:
1. Are there recent local statistics for long Covid? Any trending related to fewer masks in stores?
2. Can a doctor tell the difference between the flu and Covid? Is a test essential?
3. I know of people who got sick and assumed it was Covid but never tested or reported their illness. How far off are our statistics on case rates?
4. I just read on Thursday, October 13th, that the Biden Administration has extended the COVID-19 public health emergency declaration for another 90 days.
Does this mean that Dr. Berry and Willie Bence will continue with WEEKLY briefings to the BOCC in November and December of this year?
5. Are up to date vaccinated, boosted and healthy people getting long Covid?
Assuming a surge in cases happens, please discuss the risks and best mitigations for the following activities:
a) using public restrooms
Interstate rest areas with lots of people and likely heat & ventilation
State parks, fewer people open doors & windows which may close as the weather cools, no mechanical ventilation
pit toilets, few people air vents on walls
b) using public showers like State Park campgrounds
located at the end of the toilet stalls
may not have any mechanical ventilation open doors & windows depending on weather can be very steamy
c) visitor information centers and museums
I am 70, completely healthy, take no medications, up to date on vaccines thru Omicron specific booster.
I have been very cautious, continuing to mask indoors except inside a few friends homes.
I have no problem continuing to mask, the slight inconvenience seems reasonable to me.
My concerns are getting long Covid, a close friend who is immune compromised because of a medication she takes and slowing the spread of Covid.
