QUESTIONS FOR COMMISSIONEER BROTHERTON
Greg, please respond to the "Conflict of Interest" complaint filed with the AG’s office.
Also can you respond to the following:
Commissioners voted a pay increase for themselves recently in addition to the largest tax increase allowable. How do you feel about passing a rule/law, common in many governments, that
would preclude Commissioners from benefiting from a pay increase prior to the following election? And if you agree, would you return to charity the pay increase you are currently enjoying?
Drugs are a tragic and expensive problem in our communities. Fentanyl is killing many kids and adults. We now know that illegal marijuana is far more potent than when you were selling
marijuana legally. You recently said you approve of legal marijuana use. Why, given its adverse effects on young adults and the hard drug use that follows for many users?
We are all aware of the frustrations experienced by traveling across the Hood Canal bridge and using declining ferry services. It’s hurting our economy. It will get worse with the 2024
roundabout at the Hood Canal Bridge. While not under direct county control, what have you done to encourage the State Government correct or mitigate these problems?
With your support, the county has spent a lot of money on the homeless with a tent city and subsidized housing. That's not cheap. What have you done to grow our economy so that the county
will have the more tax revenue to support these efforts instead of just raising taxes by the maximum allowable?
Drug problems and crime go hand in hand with the homeless. You have supported spending a great deal of money on housing the homeless but what have you done to reduce the crime and mental
illness issues that goes along with the homeless?
