There were only two submissions this week but you can count on many more for the next update on November 21st! Thank you, Lynn Sorensen KPTZ Virus Watch Team Questions for Dr Allison Berry: 1. Is a surgical mask sufficient to wear as a hospital patient? I am 75 years old and scheduled for major surgery in a week. I expect to be in the hospital between 4 and 7 days. Obviously, there will be many hospital staff in and out of my room. I expect they will be wearing surgical masks. I do not know if I will have a private room, so I will have no input into what another patient or their visitors wear. I normally wear a KN95 mask in any public indoor space, as I want more protection than a surgical mask gives. Would you encourage me to wear my own KN95 masks for my hospital stay? 2. On 9/12/22 Dr Berry said that Novavax would be approved “soon” to be given as a booster. Since I had bad side effects from the Moderna vaccines & booster I’ve been waiting for Novavax to try that instead. Any word on timing, for when we can expect it?
