The health insurance enrollment season is just around the corner!
Many plans have a specific time of year in which you can enroll in a plan or make a change without a qualifying life event.
Medicare Enrollees
October 15th marks the first day of the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period, also known as AEP, for Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage plans. As the first step in the review process,
keep an eye out for the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) from your insurance carrier. This will inform you of any changes to the formulary or network that could affect your coverage under
these types of plans. Even if you don’t see many changes to the plan you are enrolled on, it might still be worth looking at other plans to make sure there isn’t a different option

Individual & Family Enrollees
Just around the corner we will enter the Open Enrollment Period (OEP) for Individual and Family coverage. While Washington has extended the OEP to January 15, 2023, changes would need
to be made November 1st through December 15th for a January 1st effective date. If looking to make a change to your income or household for January 1st, the window is November 16th
through December 15th.
Be on the lookout for important information from Washington Healthplanfinder (HPF) and/or your insurance carrier regarding your plan renewal. Communications from HPF can be found by
logging into your account and checking the message center. If enrolled on a plan outside the exchange, then you should receive a renewal notice directly from the carrier via mail. We
advise all HPF customers to access their account during the OEP to review the renewal notice and additional plan options.
Washington State has implemented additional subsidies for those enrolled with incomes below 250% federal poverty level. This program, called Cascade Care Savings requires enrollment
on a Cascade Gold or Silver plan. Since this income range also qualifies someone for Cost Sharing Reductions, which requires enrollment on a Silver plan, pay extra attention to the
deductible and out of pocket costs associated with the plans. Our agents are happy to help review these options with you.
