PLEASE DO NOT FORWARD THIS EMAIL UNTIL 12PM FRIDAY, NOV 4TH Washington Sea Grant, in partnership with Puget Sound Restoration Fund and The Nature Conservancy, is pleased to announce the Washington Seaweed Knowledge Symposium <https://waseaweedcollaborative.or g/> : a first-of-its-kind opportunity for people working to understand and shape kelp and seaweed farming in Washington State on December 8, 2022 at St. Martin’s University in Lacey, WA. More about the focus and objectives for this symposium below. Please note the emphasis on knowledge—what we know, and where we need better information—to make informed decisions about seaweed farming in Washington. The program will not include ‘how-to’ training or permitting guidance. As a member of our focus audience, we want to make sure you’re aware of this event, which we expect will fill up quickly when the signup process opens tomorrow, November 4th at 10am Pacific. To ensure diverse and equitable participation by a variety of Washington seaweed constituents, spots will be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis BY ROLE (e.g. state agency, tribe, farmer, coastal resident, etc.), which you'll have the opportunity to specify from a set of options on the signup form. The signup process will remain open through Saturday, November 12th; individuals on the signup list will be notified whether they’ve been registered to attend in person or placed on the waitlist on November 16. We strongly encourage you to act quickly when the signup process opens if you wish to attend in person! Bookmark this link <https://forms.gle/6A4E2iGtr7HcjhEL6> to the signup form (https://forms.gle /6A4E2iGtr7HcjhEL6) and set a calendar alarm for 9:55am tomorrow morning! We regret that we won’t be able to accommodate everyone who'd like to attend; thank you in advance for your understanding. The entire program will be recorded and added to the Washington Seaweed Collaborative website in early January 2023. Please indicate when you sign up if you’d like to be notified when the recording is released. We kindly ask that you refrain from forwarding this email to colleagues until noon tomorrow (Nov 4), when the Symposium is announced to the broader public, after you and others on this mailing list have had a chance to sign up. On behalf of WSG Symposium Team, our partners, and the Symposium steering committee—hope to see you there!
