From May through September, the Port Townsend Main Street Program works with our local garden center and businesses to beautify the historic districts by caring for 75 -100 hanging flower baskets which are pretty as a picture! Labor, fuel and equipment costs have been rising steadily and our nonprofit has been underwriting this project to keep the program going. Help us keep Port Townsend blooming beautifully and donate through Giving Tuesday to support the Port Townsend Main Street Flower Basket Program. Loved by locals and visitors alike, the baskets provide seasonal color and countless photo opps! Photo opps with Santa from 2:30 - 4:30pm on the Kiwanis Choo Choo at Flagship Landing and Wild Rose Chorale will be out and about singing merry tunes. At 4:30pm, Santa will leave on the Kiwanis Choo Choo and head over to the Haller Fountain to light the Community Tree at dusk. Gift Wrapping Under the Tent at Tyler Plaza - December 10th, 2022 Join us under the heated tent at Tyler Plaza from 2pm - 4pm where youth service groups will provide free holiday gift wrapping. Weather permitting. <https://mcusercontent.com/72d728eac0a891fc7cdd75517/images/864456bd-aa67-7345-4ec5-4c9921d08c06.png> 28th Annual Uptown Gingerbread Contest at the Port Townsend Public Library Dec. 1st - 11th, 2022 Prizes will be awarded in five categories: - Children 12 & under - Most Creative - Most Literary - People’s Choice - Housing for All Please provide your project with a family friendly name and contact details. Your “house” footprint (size) should be limited to 18”x18”. There is no height limit. All “houses” must be made from entirely edible pieces. Feel free to use real gingerbread or graham crackers. Entries will be accepted from December 1st - 11th, 2022. Judging will take place December 12th - 19th, 2022 by local artist Max Grover. Please drop off your Gingerbread House to the Carnegie Library during library hours at 1220 Lawrence Street. Winners will be announced Dec. 22nd, 2022. Call the library at 385-3181 with questions. Thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Port Townsend Library, you can pick up FREE Gingerbread House Kits to get you started at the Carnegie Library from November 21st - 30th, 2022(while supplies last). *Prizes and contest details are subject to change without warning in the event of unforeseen circumstances. If you want to keep your entry it must be picked up by Monday, January 2nd -otherwise it will be discarded. While the library will do its best to take care of the entries, the library cannot guarantee they will be returned without damage or become lost.
