I am writing this letter to express my support for Jefferson County Judge Mindy L. Walker being
appointed as Jefferson County Superior Court Judge upon the retirement of Judge Keith Harper.
Since 2019 Judge Walker has proven herself in her elected role as Jefferson County District Court
Judge. In fact, she is the only person I know of expressing interest in this appointment who has
experience as a judge. I've witnessed her as a level headed, fair and compassionate Judge. In her
own words, 'serving is founded on my commitment to demonstrating fairness, impartiality, and
integrity in the justice system.' She also has over a decade of experience as a practicing attorney in
Jefferson County which gained her direct experience with the Jefferson County Superior Court in
addition to practicing in Federal, Tribal, Municipal, and 11 Washington State County Courts. She
would also be the first woman serving as Jefferson County Superior Court Judge.
A judge in a rural county runs every aspect of the court. She is known as a productive leader and
collaborator within her Department and with other Department heads in our county as the leader of
our District Court. Judge Walker is uniquely suited to step into this role without missing a beat.
Beyond her depth of directly relevant legal experience and proven leadership, Mindy's courageous
and unstoppable character is built on her experience as a hotshot wildland firefighter, a trail runner,
in international aid work and as a mom. On top of all of this she has been a resident of Jefferson
County for almost two decades giving her a unique vantage point into our community.
Please carefully consider Judge Walker's experience and character when appointing our next
Jefferson County Superior Court Judge.
