As the year comes to a close, we take time to consider those things for which we are grateful – and at the Jefferson County Library District, all of us are grateful for you and your
past support. This has been a busy year full of new (and renewed) operations and activities, and we would like to share some highlights with you.
The Jefferson County Library District continues to grow to meet the needs of the people it serves. This past year, the District added:
* A grant-funded Digital Equity Navigator position to support our community’s need for expert assistance with affordable internet options, digital literacy skills, and technology assistance
throughout the county.
* New children’s storytimes, Summer Reading events, and other programs were added in South County locations.
* An expanded mobile services building is nearing completion, with the assistance of a sizeable grant from the Department of Commerce, to house current and future delivery vehicles as
well as a dedicated book sale space for the Friends of the Jefferson County Library.
* We also upgraded the online video equipment in our meeting rooms and increased our eBook collection through a grant provided by the Washington State Library.
You may notice two themes within this past year’s activities:
1. Working to remove barriers to access by meeting people where they are,
2. And funding those activities through grants and other external funding.
Our continuing success is only possible through the support and generosity of people like you during our annual Winter Giving Campaign.
The community has proven its generosity in the past, and we’re confident that it will rise to the challenge again.
