Our Mission
CAMP & RETREAT CENTER
Creating and providing the camp experience
with respite services for over 1,500 campers
and their families annually by 2028.
Our Vision
In Washington State ...
There are over 120,000 people
living with Intellectual/
Developmental Disabilities
– The Arc of Washington State
Of the 49,000 enrolled in state
Developmental Disabilities
Administration, there are 35,000
eligible for state-funded waivers,
but the state only has the capacity
to support 6,649 – WA State DSHS
Camp Beausite Northwest is only one
of four residential camp programs
that offers respite services in the
state of Washington

All year I am “that guy” in a wheelchair …
For a week or two in the summer at Camp Beausite I
am free. I am home. I’m a friend, a flirt, a joker. I love
to pull pranks and laugh with everyone. I love my
camp family where I am free to be me.
– Kris Miller, Camper
CBNW provides respite
for families and
caregivers who have
been caring for their
loved one for 10, 25,
50, 70 years.
Camp, created by families,
FAMILY created by CAMP!
Campers return every
year because they
feel a sense of
belonging, of home.
Camp is family, where
everyone is welcome.
Where everyone has
support. Where all
their needs are met.
Camp Beausite, which he first attended
over 10 years ago, is Daniel’s happy place …
Largely nonverbal, he has not told us with his words how
much he loves camp, but we can see the joy on his face
when we mention camp and the eagerness with which
he has been known to place items in a suitcase when he
knows we are getting ready to take him to camp.
Time at camp not only provides campers with a
wonderful, memorable experience, it also gives parents
and caregivers worry-free respite time.
– Nancy Palm, Daniel’s Mom
In 2017 CBNW served
roughly 80 campers, we
are aiming at serving 500
campers in 2023.
CBNW has a goal of
providing $50,000 worth
of camperships for
eligible campers to
come to camp by 2025.
We want to increase
our service from 500
campers to 1500
campers annually,
by 2030.

The Future of Our Home
Staffing Costs
The biggest cost for our program is staffing 1:1 staff-to-camper
ratios for our summer and weekend programs for round-the-clock
care. The increasing costs to staff our camps is a huge challenge
faced by CBNW.
Program Development
There are not enough respite programs in the state and PNW.
75% of our campers return to us each year and our programs fill
and grow. The more programs we can offer, the more campers
and families we can serve.
