Dear Kate,
I wanted to make sure you saw the important action request below. State funding is critical to solving our affordable housing and homelessness crises. The first step to securing the
funding we need is Governor Inslee's budget proposals which come out in December. They must include bold funding levels - but to secure that we really need you to take action!
Can you join other advocates from across the state and send a message to Governor Inslee by just clicking below on the action we created? It will only take a minute!
We don’t need to tell you that Washington’s affordable housing and homelessness crisis continues. We don’t need to tell you that the state needs to step up and do more – way more – to
end the crisis.
You know this, but we need you to join us in telling the Governor that he needs to start the next state budget session off with a big, visionary investment in affordable housing and
homelessness prevention.
Take Action! <https://default.salsalabs.org/Tf6405f42-9b59-4a01-af32-2f0f2aa3cb9f/d78f4f95-c470-42e9-947d-6619e8b97b6e>
The Governor will release his budget in December and he needs to direct the state legislature to invest at least $400 million into building and preserving affordable homes and expanding
first-time homeownership for households who are Black, Indigenous, and other people of color. The Governor’s budgets must also fund the homelessness prevention programs that work –
but are under-resourced to meet the need. And the Governor’s budgets need to fund programs that ensure people don’t lose their homes. We will never solve this crisis if we allow people
to continue to fall into homelessness.
Please join fellow advocates from across the state to tell the Governor to be bold with his budgets. His leadership is necessary. Washington can't make progress on preventing and ending
homelessness without these budget investments. Let's make sure he hears that loud and clear! <https://default.salsalabs.org/T047a3bad-bc9b-4425-a58a-857ee69851e5/d78f4f95-c470-42e9-947d-6619e8b97b6e
