Preservation is facing more complex challenges than ever before. With the pandemic not yet over, our towns and cities are wrestling with climate change, housing, and equity. Across the state, wildfires endanger homes and businesses, affecting air quality for millions, and floodwaters cause untold damage in our downtowns. From Port Townsend to Walla Walla, there is not enough housing, particularly for low-income residents. Neighborhoods face cultural erasure as major infrastructure projects reshape the landscape and the social fabric of communities. Preservation can and should play an important role in addressing these issues—through adaptive reuse, thoughtful development, inclusive storytelling, and intentional policymaking. We promise to be at the table with legislators, city and county officials, developers, and community organizers, fighting for stronger and more resilient communities through preservation. But we need your help. Support preservation in Washington State. Make a year-end donation to the Washington Trust. Donate Today <https://preservewa.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=907c69b081f5ea7a5b595e058&id=a37dedef32&e=87155efd5d> Your donation is fully tax-deductible, and by donating, you’re not only helping to save the places that matter in Washington State—you’re making a huge difference in helping us tackle the many challenges we face in preservation today. Thank you for your support! <https://mcusercontent.com/907c69b081f5ea7a5b595e058/images/86f4140d-32df-4938-ab79-1ae7ee42bd95.jpg> <https://mcusercontent.com/907c69b081f5ea7a5b595e058/images/4018009f-609e-4e98-b7c2-5323378c94a8.jpg> Chris Moore Executive Director Photo: A crowd shows its support for the preservation of the Masonic Home in Des Moines, one of our Most Endangered Places.
