This Giving Tuesday, we're writing to say that your support really does make a difference. There's no better example than our recent landmark environmental victory <https://default.salsalabs.org/T45f
1aedf-5dca-412b-bcaa-f20fa312c794/e1f9ba72-dc83-4f20-90cd-07d9d1ee41b3> when Washington state announced a new policy to permanently end commercial net pen aquaculture in Puget Sound.
This victory you helped make possible will end 40 years of pollution, viruses, and fish escapes, make way for the largest passive restoration project in our state's history, and unite
the entire US Pacific Coast in excluding this industry from marine waters.
Over the past two weeks, we've been reflecting on the hard work, thousands of individual actions, and important milestones that led to this incredible accomplishment. One thing is abundantly
clear, without your generous and continued support over the past five years, this monumental landmark victory would never have been possible.

It's because of you, we were able to launch and grow the Our Sound, Our Salmon <https://default.salsalabs.org/T37f18058-0048-47b3-80c5-e86fb4f6c4ca/e1f9ba72-dc83-4f20-90cd-07d9d1ee41b3>
coalition to include tens of thousands of individuals and hundreds of businesses and organizations who came together in the legislature, countless appeals to public officials, and
finally in the Courts to permanently end this dangerous and antiquated industry in our public waters for the benefit of wild salmon, orcas, tribal treaty rights, and the greater health
of Puget Sound.
It was your support that made it possible for Wild Fish Conservancy to hold Cooke Aquaculture accountable for $2.75 million in Clean Water Act violations that turned fish farm profits
into orca recovery dollars <https://default.salsalabs.org/T84598f35-5297-4aca-a9f1-edd6cdf27b44/e1f9ba72-dc83-4f20-90cd-07d9d1ee41b3> , and to legally challenge our own government for
recklessly authorizing this industry to operate while failing to conduct comprehensive environmental review of the ecological harm net pens cause. You provided the resources necessary
for our biologists to conduct viral testing of Cooke's escaped fish that exposed the company was importing, amplifying, and spreading an exotic, nonnative virus in their Puget Sound
net pens; a discovery that led to new policy ending the import of this dangerous virus in our public waters.
This initiative is just one example of how Wild Fish Conservancy's diverse science, education, and advocacy initiatives deliver on-the-ground, science-based solutions to the most complex
issues hindering the recovery of wild salmon, steelhead, orcas, and the habitats they depend on.
