I will attend your meeting on Wednesday by Zoom, and would like to share these comments in writing. Three years ago I had the opportunity to join a group visit guided by Steve Grace to the Quimper Lost Wilderness. As he led us through the forest, he introduced us to this very special property. I still remember the ferns, mosses, mushrooms, and birds we saw that day. After that, I remember when scientists from DNR determined that the Quimper Lost Wilderness trees met the state's official definition of old-growth. I consider the Quimper Lost Wilderness a treasure for all of us who live on the Olympic Peninsula. I am a naturalist and a birder, and I deeply value our protected land with exceptional ecosystems in Jefferson County. As a lifelong educator, mostly an elementary school principal, I can imagine children sitting beside these giant trees learning about this rare ecosystem. This is a beautiful and precious forest that deserves to be preserved for future generations, and I hope you will act to do so. Sincerely, Wendy Feltham Port Townsend
