I am intimately familiar with the conflicts around forest preservation in our area. The timber industry's impact has become ever present — a full scale logging operation just started adjacent to my property in Chimacum, and our quiet little dead end residential road on Van Trojen has turned into a commercial highway with trucks the size of my house going back and forth all day long. This kind of event, which most of us local residents experience at one time or another, makes forest preservation very personal for us and it fuels my passion for saving the Quimper Lost Wilderness. I am a professional naturalist, hiking guide, and conservationist who has lived and worked on the Quimper Peninsula for almost 30 years, and my experience helps me understand that the Quimper Lost Wilderness and surrounding buffer is a unique island of old growth that we must treasure and fight for—every single tree. I urge you to help to preserve it. Sincerely, Heather Harding heatherh@olympus.net 360-821-1655 1555 Van Trojen Rd. Chimacum, WA 98325
