Hi Kate -
When I was little, I spent a few long days a week with my grandparents. As single moms do, mine was working three jobs trying to make ends meet.
I can remember falling asleep on the living room couch in my grandma's lap as she "wrote letters" on my back while she and my grandpa quietly watched Newhart or some other evening
funny.
We were lucky to have family nearby - people we could count on to be there for us.
That’s what this Love Box has been for the families they have been matched with.

When people become Love Box volunteers, we ask for a one-year commitment (though relationships often extend beyond Olympic Angels after that year). But this outstanding group of women
is now in their third year of volunteering and with their third fostering family.
With their second family, they would often babysit in pairs. This way one could heroically handle the diaper while the other prepared to wrangle him after. The little boy in care was
just starting to walk, and was a lot to keep up with!
As if willing him to slow down, the volunteers brought him a little sloth 🦥 stuffy on one of the babysitting days. He wasn’t sure about it at first, but each time the women went to
the family’s house they would play with it. They would boop his nose with the sloth and make him giggle.
Eventually, the ladies and the stuffy became so comforting for him that he would fall asleep cuddling the sloth while they took turns rocking him.
Time spent with the Love Box volunteers was special for the little guy - and for the foster mom who was taking online classes and moving her way down a to-do list while her Angels
were there.
It was a meaningful time for each of the volunteers, watching the little one form strong bonds and thrive with his foster mom. They all made real connections with the family and still
keep in touch to this day even though the family has moved out of the area.

Foster families are often asked to do the impossible - be in two places at once, take sudden custody of a child who doesn't yet have a bed or clothes, stay up all night to comfort
them, and get up and go to work the next day.
There are so many amazing foster parents out there, but the unfortunate reality is that half of foster homes close within the first year. Not because they lack heart or intention,
but because they are not equipped or are poorly supported.
Placement stability is one of THE most important aspects of healing for a child experiencing foster care.
We provide whole-family care - encouraging and supporting both parents and children, and ensuring parents have all the tools they need to keep children in their home for as long as
possible.

You can put a healthy adult in the life of a child - a volunteer who shows up consistently with love and respect.
When you donate to Olympic Angels, you can help kids gain normalcy in an abnormal situation, and families get support that helps them have a stable household.
We are 55% away from our goal.
Can you help us reach $80,000 by December 31?
