If you've wondered why the Pacific Northwest is experiencing more large and severe fires, this program will offer some critical insight into our past, present, and future of living with fire in the West. Drawing from his work as a professor and researcher, Dr. Alvarado will be discussing a variety of wildland fire topics, including: * Fire behavior and fire regime that help us understand ecological and environmental effects of fire * Current fire issues including restoration and national fire policies * Relation of wildfires to climate * Native American traditional burning Register to join us in-person at Northwest Maritime Center (capacity limited to 35) or to access the livestream. DiPietro’s work probes the depths of human emotion by imbuing figurative sculpture with life and color.
