I am writing to follow up on that, after having attended an excellent presentation by Dr. Ernesto Alvarado via Jefferson County Historical Society last night. His focus on the influence of indigenous people on forest management inspires me to ask: How is Jefferson County including traditional ecological knowledge into forest management planning? Have any local tribes been consulted during this planning process? I feel that the indigenous perspectives are important to include in our land use planning.
