You only have until December 15th to make a plan change or enroll on a new plan for January 1st!
* Plan selections made on or before December 15th will have a January 1st effective
date.
* Plan selections made between December 16th and January 15th will have a February 1st effective date. Since amounts applied toward the deductible and out-of-pocket-maximum don’t
carry over to a new carrier, changes made after January 1st will increase your overall financial exposure for the year.
Plan selections made January 16th or later will require a qualifying life event for a special enrollment period.
Because of the implementation of Cascade Care Savings and legislative changes that corrected the Family Glitch, there is more opportunity to receive financial assistance than ever before.
Cascade Care Savings offers additional premium subsidies to eligible enrollees with income below 250% of the federal poverty level and are enrolled on a Cascade Gold or Silver plan.
Cascade Silver plans may be attractive to those with income reported under 250% federal level because you could qualify for both Cascade Care Savings (to reduce premium) and Cost Sharing
Reductions (to reduce out-of-pocket costs for services).
Since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, people can qualify for tax credits to reduce the cost of health insurance. If someone was offered other affordable health coverage,
including from an employer, they were not eligible to receive tax credits. Additionally, if an employer offered health insurance coverage that allowed dependents to enroll, regardless
of the cost to the employee, the entire household was disqualified from receiving health insurance premium tax credits. This was known as the Family Glitch. As of January 1, 2023, tax
credit eligibly for household members will be determined by income and the cost to add household members to the plan.
