HomeMy WebLinkAboutM101320 JEFFERSON COUNTY/CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND LEOFF 1 RETIREMENT/DISABILITY BOARD Jefferson County Courthouse 1820 Jefferson Street Port Townsend, WA 98368 (360) 385-9100 REGULAR MEETING MINUTES 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2020 Jefferson County Courthouse, Commissioners’ Chambers Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at the appointed time. Board Members Howard Scott, Gary Mikelson, and David Sullivan, and Secretary Erin Lundgren participated in the meeting remotely. David Faber joined the meeting remotely shortly after the meeting began. Election of Chair: Member Scott nominated and moved to appoint David Sullivan to serve as Chair for the 2020 term. Member Mikelson seconded the motion. The motion carried. Approval of Minutes: Member Mikelson moved to approve the special meeting minutes of June 25, 2019 as presented. Member Scott seconded the motion. The motion carried. Closed Session: The Board was scheduled to meet in Closed Session from 8:35 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Chair Sullivan announced that the Board will be meeting in Closed Session from 8:38 a.m. to 8:50 a.m. with the LEOFF I Board Secretary to review and discuss medical expenses under exemption RCW 42.30.140(2) as outlined in the Open Public Meetings Act. The meeting was resumed at 8:50 a.m. Chair Sullivan announced the meeting will be recessed until 9:00 a.m. at which time the Closed Session will be continued. The meeting was reconvened at 9:00 a.m. Chair Sullivan announced that the Board will be meeting in Closed Session from 9:00 a.m. to 9:10 a.m. with the LEOFF I Board Secretary to review and discuss medical expenses under exemption RCW 42.30.140(2) as outlined in the Open Public Meetings Act. The Closed Session was concluded and the regular meeting was resumed at 9:10 a.m. Determination on Payment of Health Care Expenses: Member Mikelson moved to approve payment of health care expenses in the amount of $44.70 submitted by LEOFFI Retiree Luanne Boice. Member Faber seconded the motion and recommended that the claimant be sent a letter stating that any future requests for payment of health care expenses are required to include Member Representing David Sullivan Jefferson County David Faber City of Port Townsend Gary Mikelson Law Enforcement Howard Scott Fire Fighter’s Association Vacant Citizen at Large Andy Rowlson Secretary Jefferson County/City of Port Townsend LEOFF 1 Retirement/Disability Board Meeting Minutes – October 13, 2020 Page: 2 documentation signed by the physician confirming that the services are medically necessary. The Board members agreed that a letter be sent to Ms. Boice advising her of this requirement. Chair Sullivan called for a vote on the motion. The motion carried by a unanimous vote Old Business: None New Business: None Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 9:14 a.m. until the next regularly scheduled meeting on April 13, 2021 or special meeting as properly noticed.
