This letter is in response to the PUBLIC NOTICE OF TYPE III LAND USE
APPLICATION MLAOS..Q0276 in which you asked for comments.
We have owned a parcel of land on E. Marrowstone road since 1989. We bought
the property with the intention of retiring to the island. Since that time, salt water
intrusion and other well problems have grown. Our property has been taxed at
full value the entire time, however, our ability to build on the land, or sell the
property has been nearly non existent. Due to circumstances three years ago, we
were laid off after thirty year careers and were forced to retire 12 years earlier
than expected. We sold our previous home and purchased a less expensive
property in the South Sound. We now have difficulty maintaining both our home
and the Marrowstone property.
With the advent of public water on Marrowstone Island, we are able to sell the
property and relieve the financial burden of what had become a 'white elephant'.
We fully support the addition of public water and have previously requested a
water meter when the system is implemented.
After two years of hearings and frivolous law suits, I ask that the program
proceed as soon as possible.
