We are writing in support ofMLA05-00276 submitted by Jefferson County PUD #1 to bring
public water to Marrowstone Island.
In reality it should not be necessary for us to write and plead with governmental agencies to do
their jobs. We have, however, learned that being tax-paying, law-abiding citizens and following
the rules is apparently not enough to bring public water to Marrowstone Island.
The Island desperately needs public water; the majority of landowners voted for it, the PUD
established LUD #14 and the legislature appropriated funding. It would seem that we should be
assured of a water system but instead we have had to put up with a litany of obstructions. These
have ranged from local anti~growth zealots, a less-than~helpful PUD commissioner with political
aspirations, assorted environmental crackpots from Port Townsend to a seemingly out-of-control
Department of Ecology.
The time has come for everyone to step up to the plate and make this system work the way it was
supposed to. Please process this application as expeditiously as possible.
