SUBJECT: Type III Land Use Application - MLA05-00276
Marrowstone Island Public Water System
I strongly support your approval of the aboye application. We, the majority of
Marrowstone Island residents, have been more than patient for oyer three years through
numerous meetings, litigation and most importantly hardships from lack of potable water.
Please reyiew the following sequences all leading to a public water system for
Marrowstone Island:
April, 2004 Jefferson County PUD #1 Commissioners unanimously approyed
LUD #14, Public Water for Marrowstone Island
May, 2004 Opposition lawsuit against the PUD was filed claiming LUD #14
was invalid
February, 2005 Callam County Superior Court Judge Kenneth Williams signed a
Summary Judgment dismissing all complaints in opposition's suit
April, 2005
Washington State Legislative approved a $2M Public Works Trust
Fund construction loan for LUD # 14 and signed by Gov Gregoire
May, 2005
A 312,000 gallon water storage tank was completed at Fort Flagler
State Park after approyal of Land Use Application MLA04-00260
Weare grateful for your past approval of the water storage tank as the first tangible step
for public water. Now we are asking you to step up and approye the subject PUD #l's
permit application and "let the construction begin." This has been a long, oyerdue project
and it is time to proyide the residents of Marrowstone a safe and adequate public water
system. I urge you to help us by moying quickly to support this permit application. It is
the right thing to do.
