Dear Mr. Johnson:
We would like to express our support for a decision to grant Jefferson County PUD#l a
permit to use public lands for installing a water distribution system on Marrowstone
Island. Public right of ways are there to provide services to the population, including
transportation, power, telephone and water. It is our firm opinion that there will be no
environmental effects caused by laying water pipes along the roadways. This is hardly
more invasive than the annual ditch cleaning.
This project was approved two years ago and delays due to protest actions from a group
of a very few activists have caused the cost if this project to increase significantly over
that cost estimated at the time of the initial review. Our water is of very poor quality and
we need good public water in sufficient supply to enable a normal life.
