Fischbach Clerk of the Board: Lorna Delaney MINUTES Week of May 1, 2006 Chairman Phil Johnson called the meeting to order in the presence of Commissioner David W. Sullivan and Commissioner Patrick M. Rodgers. PROCLAMATION re: Proclaiming Mayas Community Action Month and May 10,2006 as OlyCAP Day: Chairman Johnson read the proclamation designating Mayas Community Action Month and May 10, 2006 as OlyCAP Day. Commissioner Sullivan moved to approve the proclamation as presented. Commissioner Rodgers seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote. Linda Haskell, representing Olympic Community Action Programs, thanked the Board for their continued support. COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR BRIEFING: The County Administrator clarified that after the public hearing last week on the Paradise Bay No Shooting Zone, the Board directed the Planning Commission to review the process and develop criteria for establishing ''No Shooting Zones." The Board intends to make a decision on the Paradise Bay No Shooting Zone after they receive the Planning Commission's recommendation. The review is expected to take approximately 2 months. A public hearing is required if the recommendation is to revise the current ordinance. PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: The following comments were made: concerns were expressed because the Board is not taking immediate action to decrease County spending because the fiscal welfare ofthe County is their responsibility; and Fred Hill Materials has always been willing to work with the County to increase revenues. APPROVAL AND ADOPTION OF THE CONSENT AGENDA: Commissioner Rodgers moved to approve the Consent Agenda as presented. Commissioner Sullivan seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote. 1. Advisory Board Alternate Member Appointments (3); Jefferson County Marine Resources Committee; Four (4) Year Terms Expiring May 1,2010; Tony Petrillo Representing District No.2; Hyatt Barnes Representing Recreation; and Robin Downy Representing Commercial Interests From 10:05 a.m. to 11 :00 a.m. the Board met with several Fire District representatives and staff regarding the proposed Emergency 911 System Locator Ordinance. The meeting was recessed at the close of business on Monday and reconvened on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. All 3 Commissioners were present for the following action. Comment Letter re: Port Townsend Ferry Terminal Preservation and Improvement Project; Washington State Ferries: Commissioner Rodgers moved to have the Board sign a letter to the CEO of the Washington State Ferries stating their concerns about the service plans for the Port TownsendlKeystone Ferry Preservation and Improvement Project, including the increased ferry traffic on Sims Way, long term parking, and signage.
