On November 7th, HSN asked the community to rise to a Call to Action to ensure the City of Port Townsend heard our request for a specific commitment to increase and protect housing for the local workforce, especially those who make over the threshold to qualify for low-income housing resources and yet not enough to purchase market rate housing. <https://mcusercontent.com/38123e1ad2608f9c4e51e6660/images/76f1c856-d38c-2c5a-d43d-d94879f65ed6.png> So what’s next? Show Up + Speak Up for Affordable Housing in Port Townsend! Join us this Thursday, December 15th from 6-8pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall and help answer the big question: How can we ensure more affordable housing for local working households making up to $110,000? The City of Port Townsend will be hosting a community Open Mic Night on Thursday, December 15th during a special meeting of the Planning Commission. The goal is to gather community feedback that will drive code changes to increase housing in the city <https://housingsolutionsnetwork.us17.list-manage.com/track/click?u=38123e1ad2608f9c4e51e6660&id=979834159b&e=b56e9d81e8> . HSN hopes to see and hear many of our local residents speak up to the importance of affordable workforce housing and how we can meet the needs of our community at large. Show up + speak up on what barriers you’d like to see the city remove to support developing housing, how the city can address the need for more diverse and affordable housing, and what the city should consider to ensure such code changes will address housing options for those making under 150% of area median income?
