Hello commissioners and staff,
I hear a lot of concern about Shine Rd which makes it sound like the residents think it is a private road and they should be able to keep non-residential traffic off that road. Last
I knew, Shine was a county road, it is not private.
While I would love to stop all traffic along Center Rd from Quilcene to Chimacum for my own convenience, I understand that I own land along a public road and I knew this fact when I
bought my house. Expecting traffic to avoid the road I live on for my own selfish whims is an absurd request. When 101 is closed due to an accident or downed tree, I am grateful that
drivers can use Center Rd as an alternative route to get where they need to go.
If the county has a role to play in promoting public safety along Shine Rd during construction on SR104, I think that prudent. However, any misplaced attempt to prohibit public use of
Shine Rd is untenable.
