The September 2022 edition of WSDOT’s quarterly performance report (Gray Notebook 87) <https://wsdot.wa.gov/sites/default/files/2022-12/gray-notebook-Sep22.pdf> is now available online.
While numerous performance measures are reported throughout the Gray Notebook, highlights from this issue include:
* Annual traffic fatality crashes on Washington public roads increased 15.5% from 574 in 2020 to 663 in 2021, while serious injury crashes increased 20.4% from 2,428 in 2020 to 2,924
in 2021
* The percentage of deck area on WSDOT-owned bridges in poor condition increased from 6.7% in June 2021 to 7.4% in June 2022
* In the third quarter of 2022, Incident Response teams provided an estimated $22.3 million in economic benefit by reducing the effects of incidents
on drivers
* Washington State Ferries completed 34,221 (97.6%) of its 35,050 regularly scheduled trips in the first quarter of fiscal year 2023
* WSDOT built 88 stormwater treatment and flow control facilities in fiscal year 2022, and prevented 1,748 cubic yards of sediment from reaching
water bodies
* A Connecting Washington project and was operationally complete during the fifth quarter of the 2021-2023 biennium (July through September 2022)
* WSDOT advertised 36 of 47 Pre-existing Funds projects in the fourth quarter of the 2021-2023 biennium
