OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT Dear Mr. Schmitz: Thank you for your recent email regarding your concerns with the development proposals at Port Ludlow in Jefferson County. Our Director, Linda Hoffman, asked that I respond to you directly. I appreciate hearing your concerns and we will certainly take your issues under consideration. Please be assured that we are not excluding you or your associates from the process. Our staffhas gladly accepted all the materials that have been provided to us, has shared all the information we have, and have discussed this issue with several people on several occasions. Al Scalf, with Jefferson County, has asked ifhe and other County staff can meet with staff from the Department of Ecology to talk about Port Ludlow, meet new staff, and discuss other issues important to us. This is not a public meeting from which you are being excluded. The public process for Shoreline permit decisions is clearly identified, and we are committed to ensuring it is followed. I am confident that I can speak for the County to that commitment as well. There has been and will continue to be opportunities for public participation in the review of aU Shoreline permit decisions in and around Port Ludlow. Jeffree Stewart is the Shoreline Specialist in the Southwest Regional Office who has been working on this issue; he can be reached at 360-407-6521. Perry Lund is the Permitting and Teclmical Unit Supervisor and has helped Jeff with some ofthe issues related to the Port Lagoon; he can be reached at 360-407- 7260. Paula Ehlers is the Section Manager for the Shorelands and Environmental Assistance Program at the Southwest Regional Office; her phone number is 360-407-0271.
