Re: Port Ludlow
JEFFERSON COUNTY
DEPT. OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Dear Mr. Powers:
Thank you for your recent email regarding your concerns with the development proposals at Port Ludlow
in Jefferson County. Our Director, Linda Hoffman, asked that I respond to you directly. I appreciate
hearing your concerns and we will certainly take your issues under consideration.
Please be assured that we are not excluding you or your associates from the process. Our staff has gladly
accepted all the materials that have been provided to us, has shared all the information we have, and have
discussed this issue with several people on several occasions.
Al Scalf, withJefferson County, has asked ifhe and other County staff can meet with staff from the
department of Ecology to talk about Port Ludlow, meet new staff, and discuss other issues important to
us. This is not a public meeting from which you are being excluded. The public process for Shoreline
permit decisions is clearly identified, and we are committed to ensuring it is followed. I am confident that
I can speak for the County to that commitment as well. There has been and will continue to be
opportunities for public participation in the review of all Shoreline permit decisions in and around Port
Ludlow.
Jeffree Stewart is the Shoreline Specialist in the Southwest Regional Office who has been working on this
issue; he can be reached at 360-407-6521. Perry Lund is the Permitting and Technical Unit supervisor
and has helped Jeff with some of the issues related to the Port Lagoon; he can be reached at 360-407-
7260. Paula Ehlers is the Section Manager for the Shorelands and Environmental Assistance Program at
the Southwest Regional Office; her phone number is 360-407-0271.
Anyone of them would be happy to discuss your concerns with you. Please feel free to contact them.
Sincerely,
