ITEM: Public Comment on the Port Ludlow Resort Plan Revision of the Build-out
and Marina Expansion Project
In response to the proposed Port Ludlow Resort Plan Revision of the
Build-out and Marina Expansion Project, our concerns do not involve any
financial, quality of life (IE. traffic, population), or existing artificial lagoon issues.
After careful review of the project documentation located at the Jefferson
County Department of Community Development, it would seem prudent to
address some additional areas of importance before fully endorsing this project.
Similar examples of build-out and expansion in close proximity to a natural
resource, such as the Port Ludlow Bay, can be observed in other communities;
for instance, Lake Tahoe, California. The federal and state government, along
with the municipal entities there, took care to insured the health of their very
important natural resource by requesting studies on these, and additional,
subjects:
Soil Microbiology
Sediment and Nutrient Transport
Treatment of Surface Runoff
Watershed Management
Sedimentary Contents (especially Phosphorous)
Surface Water Hydrology
Algae Proliferation
, Paleolimnology

Following this lead would inevitability benefit all parties concerned. For the )
developers, Port Ludlow Associates, LLC, it witr insure them that their most
important selling point, a clean and pristine Port Ludlow Bay, will remain so. It
will provide the Jefferson County Department of Community Development
confirmation of their through evaluation. And, it will ease the minds of the
current residents of Port Ludlow that their bay will be the same in the future as it
is today.

In the absence of these evaluations, the prevailing thought will be doubt.
Respectfully,
