Subject: Port Ludlow Build Out
Dear Ms Farfan and Mr Scalf,
We are property owners at 38 Heron Road and would like to comment on the proposed Resort Build-Out.
The current proposed Build-Out does not take into account the everyday safety and liveability of our area. The roadway
known as Heron Road was poorly designed and there is absolutely no way you can safely build more commercial or
residential anything that will abut this roadway. This is an accident waiting to happen here. It is not a matter of if it will
happen but when. There have been many dreadful incidents regarding both the roadway and the sidewalk in front of
our building and so far we have been lucky that no one has been hurt.
Is the county willing to take responsibility for this?
We are not opposed to building more quality residential units but feel the 58 already planned for at the time we
purchased our unit is more than adequate to uphold the community standards.
Adding density does not solve our problems. We cannot back out of our driveways, we already lack sufficient parking
areas and there are no walkway systems to get from place to place with the added traffic that would be expected with
the over population.
We are afraid that if there was a need for emergency vehicles to have to access our homes, it would not be possible.
Every time we have our grandson visit, it is a dire concern if he heads toward the road.
We look to the county to be the responsible entity in looking after the good of the people. We want to live in a
comfortable and safe environment. There are laws, ordinances and RCWs to assist and protect.
We adamently oppose this Build-Out plan to add more units than this area can safely manage.
Please be our voice and governing body on this matter.
Sincerely,
Gary and Kathy Hashbarger
