OF COMMUNITY DEVElOPMENf November 2, 2005 Jefferson County Dept. of Community Development 621 Sheridan Street Port Townsend, W A 98368 Re: Port Ludlow Asso. development hearing Nov. 4, 2005 We would like to have our concerns about the development of the Ludlow Bay Village build-out considered at the November 4,2005 hearing. We believe that the proposed density of development for this particular area of Port Ludlow is double that which should be allowed, not only for aesthetic reasons, but for safety and ecological reasons as well. This location is really the core of the Master Planned Resort and, as such, should receive even more scrutiny in what is and is not allowed than the rest of the area. The proposed density leaves little or no room for open space, which should be a critical part of the decision due to the location on the waterfront. The beach/waterfront should be given prime consideration before being decimated by buildings and people instead of harboring seals, migrating birds, eel grass beds, and other wildlife as it does presently, despite the townhouses already there. Public access to the beach has already been compromised by the latter. Whatever is allowed to be built should, in our opinion, follow the green rules of development, using permeable surface paving materials, and allowing for as much open land as possible for proper water management.
