HomeMy WebLinkAboutLog314 ~ Mr AI Scalf November 1, 2005 Department of Community Development Jefferson County 621 Sheridan Street Port Townsend, WA 98368 Subject: PLA request for major plan revisions (MLA-00407) Dear Mr. Scalf, Baseball's Yogi Berra once said,"lt's not over 'til it's over"... Nothing could be a better example of that statement than PLA's continued requests for changes in their FEIS, all resulting in greater density. Your department approved a land use plan in 1993 that addressed all the necessary issues. Much of what was understood by the average citizen to be an acceptable plan, leaving plenty of "natural state" areas, has already been altered and built upon. Even the most recent request for change admits to the continued "unavoidable adverse impacts" of their "more intense developmenf' on our community. Those who chose Port Ludlow to live in did so because of the exceptional life style made possible by the County adhering to good developmental standards. This is NOT the time to relax those standards. Part of the new request for change includes the development of Admiralty III in an area located directly above and contingent to our Admralty II Condominium property. There already exist problems from water flowing from this undeveloped land through our property and threatening an already unstable shore line bank. Any development in this area that would add impervious surfaces would only increase the threat to this shoreline and thus to three of the six condominuim buildings presently located within 30 ft of the existing bank. The highest and best use of that land, when considering the increased density that will naturally occur in Port Ludlow, is its present use. It now provides needed community green space, a neighborhood recreation area that surely must be part of good County planning. It also presently provides an important helicopter landing space for emergency medical situations. For these reasons, we believe the County should remove Admiralty III from development in this very sensitive area. We thank you for giving serious consideration to our comments...Just do the right thing for the community as a whole. Sincerely, ~ a. /Hrsk~~ ~ Robert G.
